Bringing together leaders on water and climate issues
to share successes and explore new solutions

On Sept. 13-14, 2018 leaders convened at the Water Pavilion to share knowledge and inspire action on water and climate change.

The climate is changing. Rising sea levels, more extreme storms, and increased drought risk, are impacting people now. Better management of water resources can help reduce climate change risks and adapt to its impacts.

The Water Pavilion, a two-day event at the Global Climate Action Summit, brought together leaders from governments, civil society, businesses, and academia. Through panels, workshops, and a tech exposition, participants shared knowledge about the water-climate connection, explored pathways for solutions, and inspired more ambitious commitments.

Activities WERE organized
around four themes:

WATER-CLIMATE INFORMATION TO ACTION is based on the assertion that action taken to build toward climate and water resilience should be founded on good information—a simple assertion that is challenging to implement.

GOVERNANCE FOR WATER-CLIMATE RESILIENCE explores how, for long-term sustainability, we need to address who decides what actions to take, how those decisions are made, how conflicts are resolved, and how those affect who benefits.

FINANCING WATER-CLIMATE SOLUTIONS focuses on how financial solutions and innovation can help achieve climate goals.

COMMUNITIES CREATING OPPORTUNITY OUT OF CLIMATE CHANGE explores actions, at the community and watershed scales, with a focus on indigenous communities and green infrastructure, demonstrating how the impacts of climate change can create opportunity for more ambitious and sustainable action.
